While most of the outlets covering Davos 2025 paid attention to Pres. Trump’s address to the world’s wealthy, there was another speaker who took a second shot at what he called the, “…mental virus of woke ideology.” Earlier this month President Javier Milei of Argentina appeared at Davos, Switzerland to address those attending this year’s forum. This second time was no less of an attack. Early on, he said:
An international alliance has been slowly forming which want to be free and believe in the ideas of liberty.
And slowly, what once seemed like the hegemony of the woke left in politics, educational institutions, and the media and supra-national organizations, or even ones like Davos has begun to crumble. And the hope for ideas like freedom has begun to emerge.
According to Wikipedia, Javier Gerardo Milei is an Argentine economist and politician who has served as President of Argentina since 2023. He has taught university courses and written on various aspects of economics and politics and also hosted radio programs on the subject.
Argentina’s history over a bit more than a century has suddenly catapulted from massive economic and social dysfunction to a incredible success. Milei’s leadership has turned its economy around and has once again joined in the international marketplace under the new leadership of a man who’d not done anything in politics until two years ago.
His application of economics concepts he taught as a professor were the cornerstone of his campaign which elected him into office as the country’s new president recently. He’s been extremely successful because after only a year, the world has embraced Argentina as a country which now is an example of fiscal responsibility, solving inflationary problems, and commitment to its obligations; serving the people.
The country is also now an example of a new way of doing politics; telling the truth to its people and trusting that they will understand what needed to be done in lifting the country out of massive debt, inflation, and devalued currency. In his address this year he told those listening what they may not have wanted to hear. Later on, he said:
Until this new alliance has succeeded in rebuilding our historical cathedral, until we have ensured that the majority of western countries have once again embraced the ideas of liberty, until our ideas have become the common currency in the halls of such events as this one, we can’t let our guard down.
I must say that, forums like this one have become protagonists and promoters of the sinister agenda of wokeism that is doing so much damage to the western world.
There are those who understandably view Milei as the Trump of Argentina. In fact, Milei has formed alliances which include Elon Musk, Georgia Meloni in Italy, Bukele in El Salvador, Viktor Orbán in Hungary, Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel, and Donald Trump in the U.S. Here’s the full speech with English interpretation and the full text of his speech on the Davos website here.
We can only hope and pray that this will be a model repeated in other South American countries, like Brazil once again, and western European countries as well.
